Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM)
The post office hasn't been known for much innovation in the last many years. Flat rate priority probably topped the list. But recently, they came out with a great program that lets a small business hit every mailbox in an area for an exceptionally low price.
Some businesses MUST target their message to consumers because they don't have mass appeal. But for pizza or cell phones or anything else that almost everyone enjoys, hitting every mailbox for just 16 cents per address is a big win!
This program ONLY allows delivery of postcards, but postcards are a powerful method of direct mail ... if you use them correctly. First, EDDM allows you to deliver oversized postcards at the same price. So you pay a little more to print, but you can make a huge impact. Second, I recommend you use TALKING MAIL. This can make all the difference.
What is Talking Mail?
One thing I've definitely learned is that people don't read. They prefer to listen or watch. So I recommend a bold call to action getting people to dial a recorded message for the information you want to share. This lets you say more than you could on a postcard. You can easily host a message for $5/month or less. (Even for free.) There are also options for tracking calls, which helps you to know the success of your direct mail campaign.
Optionally (or use both), you can use QR codes so that a smart phone can scan a spot on your postcard and instantly jump to an online video, or to a form requesting more information, or to anything else you can imagine. These can be tracked as well, so you know the traction you're getting from any individual EDDM campaign.
What's the Cost?
Here's the crazy thing: "Every Door Direct Mail" is so inexpensive, you could hire me to write and design these, then have 5000 printed and delivered throughout your town ... for under 40 cents each. That's the TOTAL for writing, design, printing, and delivery. Less than the cost of a postage stamp for each.
Of course you can run campaigns of any size, but the more you use a design, the more you spread out that cost. I charge just $895 for writing and design of a 6.5" x 9" EDDM postcard, both sides.
I can also script and even record your talking mail! I charge $50 per minute of a script for writing, and another $50 per minute for an edited recording. (Or I can arrange for a female voice over artist.) I do NOT charge anything extra to help you set up a message line and to upload the recording.
So ... are you ready to hit every door in your neighborhood with a powerful direct mail campaign? If so, please get in touch and let's get your postcard designed!
