Desktop Lightning is an exciting product that allows you not just to market, but to market SUCCESSFULLY to thousands of people ... ON DAY ONE of using it! And importantly, it is FREE to use, although there is a very low-cost upgrade option as well.

First, what is Desktop Lightning?

It's a service that allows you to send marketing messages to other people -- not by e-mail, but directly to their desktops. They will literally get a pop-up message on their computer screen when you send them a message. No more having to go around spam filters or otherwise get lost in the flood of daily e-mails.

But it's much more than that. Let's take a look at some benefits:

1. Exponential List Growth

It's well known online that the way to build substantial income is to have a list to market to -- and of course one that will read your messages.

Desktop Lightning can help you to build a huge list of people who will receive your messages. How? As a free service, you can literally give it away, giving other people the opportunity to ALSO market with Desktop Lightning. When they do so, they become part of your list and you can start sending them 1-2 messages a week. (I like to think "less is more," making sure you offer real value with each message.)

This becomes exponential when they start sharing the software, and their referrals start sharing it, and so on. Again, it's free to all these people, yet as more people sign up, you get more and more people into your marketing funnel. A full 15 levels of referrals enter your funnel. So if you only shared it with 3 people who shared it with 3 each who shared it with 3 each, you would already have 3+9+27 people in your group -- or 39 people you could market to, even though you only shared it with 3. This could quickly turn into THOUSANDS of people you can market to on a weekly basis for free.

2. Additional Readers

Desktop Lightning also lets you market to MORE than just your own funnel. There are two kinds of bonus networks you can market to. One of them has to do with readership -- I'll explain this more below, but the more you are READING messages, the more people you can send a message to outside your own funnel. This means that you can have people to market to ON DAY ONE, even if you haven't built your own network.

The second bonus is for those who upgrade to the platinum membership, which was just $14.95 a month last I knew. (And no -- I don't get any kind of referral fee.) When you're platinum, you get a bonus readership every time you send out a message, and this readership is selected by the system from among people who have not gotten very many messages recently.

To give an idea, my readership bonus is up to extra 50 people receiving my message. My platinum bonus was over 2000 people the first time I sent my message. This was a "first time" bonus. After that, I get several hundred, and this number increases over 6 months of maintaining my membership. These numbers vary based on when you sign up and how many people they have available for this bonus.

So as a platinum, look what happened on day one, before I ever added ONE PERSON to my own network. (The one person showing in my network is "me".)

3. Active Readership

As you can see from what I explained above, there is a readership bonus -- this means that you get to send out to more people if you are actively READING the messages that come to you. The more you read -- for at least 10 seconds -- the larger a bonus you'll receive.

The idea is to keep your message short and sweet and get people to click a link to your website for more details, so that 10 seconds is enough for them to at least have their curiosity piqued.

Granted, the platinum bonus is so large that this bonus will appeal more to FREE members. But there are also platinums like myself who like to look at the messages, because many of them are targeted to my marketing interests. (More on this in a moment, because this has to do with whether Desktop Lightning is right for you.) Still, there is an obvious incentive for EVERYONE to pay more attention to incoming messages, and this is to your advantage.

4. Reader Underwhelm -- Don't Underestimate This!

Today, most of us are overwhelmed by e-mail and delete as fast as we can. How many e-mails do you get in a day? I probably get 50-100, and don't want most of them.

With Desktop Lightning, the situation is different. Messages are coming through a different medium, popping up right in front of me with the option to read now or later. But there aren't too many of them, so I don't find it obnoxious. Consider this: you get 15 levels of referrals below you. That means you could have up to 15 people in your "upline." At most, 15 people can send you a message.

Free members can send a message once a week; platinums can send up to twice a week. So you'll never receive more than 30 a week, or about 4 a day. And most often you'll receive less.

You can still delete them without reading, but there's less reason for doing so.

5. Ease of Use

As you can see from the graphic above, it's extremely easy to send out a message. It's as simple as adding a subject, typing in your message, and hitting send. Platinum users have the opportunity to include HTML, formatting, etc., though they don't have to.

And by the way ... sharing it with others is simple too. You just give them your custom web address to visit, and when they download the program, it automatically installs itself. They are then in your downline and will receive messages from you. Because it's as simple as sharing a web address, you can encourage people to sign up even from your e-mail signature.

6. E-book Library

As an added bonus, they have just started adding e-books to the software. These are absolutely FREE for you to benefit from, even if you're a free member of Desktop Lightning. This alone could make the software downloading if you're a fan of learning from e-books. As they build a notable libary of titles, I'll include a few in this review so you get an idea of what's there.

SUMMARY

In short, Desktop Lightning gives you the ability to market directly to people's desktops, bypassing spam filters and e-mail fatigue. People getting your message have an incentive to at least give it a quick lookover. And through the power of networking, you can build a massive list of people to market to without having to personally introduce too many people to it.

The ONLY string attached to Desktop Lightning is that you'll receive some messages to YOUR desktop as well. But you'll never get more than 30 per week in exchange for the opportunity to market to an unlimited number of people on a weekly basis.

Is Desktop Lightning Right for You?

So now you know how Desktop Lightning works. But is it right for you? To answer this, consider a couple of factors:

1) Do you already have a substantial e-mail list, or know how to build one? If so, you may not need Desktop Lightning. Having said that, Desktop Lightning is obviously more "viral" in nature, which I consider important. Most of your e-mail list members aren't recruiting other members, unless you have set up some sort of affiliate program.

2) Do you have something to market to this list? There are two points here: do you have something to market, and is it right for this list? I believe a lot of the people who use Desktop Lightning would be classified as marketers. Of course EVERY business person is a marketer to some degree, but I'm talking about people mainly classified this way. Do you have something that marketers would want? And can it be sent by e-mail or post? (If you're a hands-on service, there's not much point in marketing through a system that reaches people all over the country or the world.)

Now I don't care if it's clothes or nutritional supplements -- marketers don't just buy marketing materials. But you should decide if you have something that will appeal to them and can be sent. (Of course many of the messages you receive will be oriented toward marketing; BUT ... if you're running a business, I would encourage you to be open to that. Marketing is your lifeblood.)

3) Will YOUR contacts be willing to receive messages from other people? If you want to use this system for your company newsletter, will people be willing to get messages from your "upline" in order to receive your newsletter? The answer is yes if you give them enough value in your newsletter. OR ... if they also see the value in using this system to market to other people. But it's important to decide if this is the right medium for reaching out to your contact list.

I use it here on mccardellwrite because I'm trying to teach businesses how to market in cost-effective ways, and this is one possibility. I'm hoping that -- as a visitor to my site or a personal client -- you would be open to messages from others about marketing tools, which is a lot of what gets sent out. I also send messages through my free toolbar, through which I provide free business writing services. (Those messages also go directly into a web browser as opposed to going through e-mail.)

4) Finally, don't use this with a network marketing team. If you're involved in network marketing, you can certainly sign up for Desktop Lightning to promote your product or service; but I don't recommend having your downline sign up for Desktop Lightning under you. Why? Because if you're all promoting the same company, and you're reaching THEIR downline, this is similar to cross promoting. It's not intentional, but it's effectively what happens. AND ... what happens if you join a second company and start promoting that to the contacts of your downline? Again, you're not intending to do anything wrong, but it does set up an awkward situation that you probably want to avoid.

Think through these questions, and if Desktop Lightning seems right for you, then you can SIGN UP HERE.

IMPORTANT FREE SERVICE (When you Join My Network)

If you do decide to try Desktop Lightning, I encourage you to sign up through my link so that I can give you some help as you get started. Because, after all, you want to market through this with writing; and that's my background.

So the first time you go to send a message, I encourage you to get in touch and HAVE ME REVIEW YOUR MARKETING MESSAGE -- a $50 VALUE for FREE. There is no cost to doing this one time if you've signed up for Desktop Lightning directly under me. I will help to make sure that your message is concise, compelling, and cleanly written so you look professional to those receiving your message.

Of course I also intend to send out useful tools, tips, and techniques that you can use when marketing your business, so I hope you'll find it a good value to read through my messages over time anyway.

Now, as a personal tip, I recommend that you upgrade to platinum for $14.95. With your first message, you're likely to send a message to more than 2000 people -- just think about that! 2000 people receiving your message directly to their desktops. That's especially why I want to help you produce a powerful first message.

If you're unhappy with Desktop Lightning in the first 30 days, you can request your money back. So you've literally gotten their service AND mine for FREE if you cancel. (You can also simply downgrade to a free account if you like, but then you'll lose out on a lot of benefits.)

The point is, if you've considered the points that I've written about above and you feel that Desktop Lightning is for you, I believe you'll give it some time to work. I think that $14.95 is a steal for all the benefits you get -- a "no brainer" for marketing your business. Compare it to the cost of one print ad running for one week in a newspaper -- for the cost of that one ad, you could market to the desktop of hundreds or thousands of people a week probably for a couple YEARS!

So if you'd like to see how marketing with Desktop Lightning can benefit you, then SIGN UP TODAY. The download is fast and installation is automatic. And before you know it, you'll have a free or low-cost way of marketing your business in a powerful new way.
